Black Owned Businesses
Listen
The history of Black Americans is filled with a powerful list of examples of highly successful entrepreneurs, not all of whom are well known. Recent National Association of Black Journalist Hall of Fame inductee Neil Foote shares with us 10 Black entrepreneurs who sold their businesses to major U.S. corporations for sums ranging from tens of millions to billions of dollars. Among these profitable success stories are Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, Richelle Dennis and Robert L. Johnson. With these kinds of numbers being thrown around, we have to wonder what aspiring entrepreneurs could learn from these legendary moguls. What are some of their common characteristics? Neil Foote is CEO of Foote Communications LLC, a public-relations, content management and multicultural marketing firm. He was formerly a business journalist for the Miami Herald and the Washington Post.
